Photos for OCI application - question on background?

I am not being able to get passport size photographs with colored background. Apparently the places that take the photographs do not allow it. They are insisting that the photos be in white background.

Any issues with me sending passport photos with WHITE background? I am not sure of the reason for the light colored (not white) requirement on photogrpahs?

Did you guys submit photos with white background and no issues?

Passport size photographs with LIGHT COLORED BACKGROUND, is what is normally specified. A US Passport Size photograph(2 X 2) with white background should work just fine, as it has worked for me and many others. WHITE is a light color, actually.

Photograph models

I wonder why the models for an Overseas Citizen of INDIA application are mostly white? Could they not get any Indian models? For example none of the white models have a mustache, while most Indian men do. After all, 99.99% of the applicants for an OCI card are not going to look anything like the models on the brochure. Bizarre!
