You need to make an appt with the ASC to have your photos taken.

See this thread -- it has exact details on the whole process of eFiling EAD.

Once you complete the efile application, the system will prompt you to take an appointment at the nearest ASC to get your FP and photos. That is one of the small advantages of e-filing (saving the 14 bucks on photos.. :D )

Contrary to what you may think, e-filing is no faster than paper filing.

Also efiling has caused a lot more confusion with USCIS compared to paper.

I would stick to paper, till CIS cleans up its eFiling process and makes sure everyone understands it.
After all its not too difficult to get a decent set of normal PP pictures taken ... atleast with the old style ADIT pics, it was a pain to get them done correctly ;)

On top of that, I prefer not to visit my friendly neighborhood ASC if at all possible :D
 
As a person who has applied 3EADs/3APs for myself and 2EADs/2APs for my wife (both paper and efile) ...I would suggest to go with paper filing until USCIS streamlines the e_filing process. eFiling is still in its infancy with lot of confusions at USCIS eventhough it has lots of advantages. Biggest advantage would be, getting the receipt notice then and there. So...basically it would be your call.
