Photo Print Size / Actual Pixel Diff ??

I have scanned a pic which is 2in x 2in

However when i resize the pixels to be 300 x 300 in Photoshop
The print size decrease from 2in x2in. However the photo validator on DV lottery site passes the pic.

Is this normal or i am not doing it correctly

Also the Adobe Photoshop shows the scanned pic to have resolution of 200 pixels/inch where as the requirement says 150pixels/inch??

Stuart i have posted on this earlier on resizing pic.

For scanned, set your scanner to be 150pixels/inch. If you dont set it to this resolution then you will notice anomallys i.e print size will not be 2inch x 2 inch if you dont "tweak" enough in photoshop.

However a 150px/inch scanned pic, when resized using the crop tool set to do cropping at 300px x 300px will result the actual pixel view in Adobe Photoshop showing larger but when in print view or printed on paper will still result in 2inch x 2inch pic.

Even though you pic will pass the photo validator being 300 x 300, the actual print size will not necessarily be 2inch x 2inch though and IS this grounds for disqualification? - possibly yes since when they process you selection upon winning, they actually print your submitted pic which goes on the paper that gets stuck to your yellow enevlope and of course your visa lable. Why i say POSSIBLY yes is cause once your selection is being processed, you submit another set of your pics with the DSP forms and i guess if your submitted pic was 'crap/small print size' then they use the second set of pics (physical pics measuring 2inch by 2inch that you send) at the consulate

Bottom line is the submitted pics in DV entry dont necessarily and ultimately get used for Visa issuance processing/lable but rather as a initial pic for the sake of entrying the lottery which is clearly viewable on screen during winner selection but not necessarily get printed at tha stage

If the initial pics were to be mandatory in Visa issuance process, we would have a lot more people getting disqualified from the Lottery simply because the physical print sizes would have been all over the place!
