Send N-400 to VSC in Sept. 2005

No more information from Philadelphia DO, VSC, FBI/NNCP
My lawyer (who I trust and seems very reputable) told me, there are cases pending for 3 years and there is no light of relief in near future.
I just got some help from a nice FBI worker who told me: that NNCP received USCIS request in Oct. 2005. However, NNCP is backlogged for cases in 2003.
On top of that: I will need to move to California in July, 2006 to take a postdoctoral position. Any advice about either moving case to CA or keeping it here? (After all, I have lived in Philadelphia for 10 years and the postdoctoral job is a temporary job )
