I am working on a H1B visa. 2 years ago the company I work for gave me more responsibility and changed my duties. I have been working as a director. When they gave me the new position they changed all the org charts and announced my new role to the company, but gave me no extra pay. Given my H1B status I had no choice but to do the work they asked of me.
I was complaining to a friend recently about all the responsibility I have for the pay I get. They said the company can't do this and that they have to pay the average salary for the job I have.
I checked the web and the average salary in San Diego for an IT director is 120k (salary.com). Much more than my pay.
Can I demand back pay ?
