I know that I will have to fill out Form I-90 in order to get another one. It will take about 3-6 months. I am going to move to another state in a month, which means that I will have to find a job. I will sent out the Form I-90 with the fee this Tuesday, since I have to speak with my lawyer about specific questions I am unable to answer on the form. I have an appointment with an immigrant official next Friday. I am going to ask him if he can give me something to use as temporary evidence of permanent residence for employment purposes. My passport is going to expire in two weeks. I will renew it this Wednesday. Now, I looked at the passport, and it has a stamp that says something like "This stamp is used as temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence until 2003 employment authorized. I got my Permanent Resident Card in 2002. My questions are the following:
While I am waiting for the Permanent Resident Card to arrive, which will take 3-6 months, what can an immigrant official give me to use as temporary evidence of permanent residence for employment purposes (so I can get another job). What should I bring to the appointment? What will he give me as temporary evidence (evidence that even if I do not have my permanent resident card, employers can't still deny hiring me)? Will I receive it the same day I go to the appointment? Is there a fee? I do have a copy of my permanent resident card front and back, which I believe cannot be used as replacement of the real card for employment.
Who is responsible for stamping "This stamp is used as temporary evidence of lawful admission for permanent residence until 2003 employment authorized"
When I renew my passport, will the people do it there even though I do not have my Permanent Resident card. They told me that the only I.D. I need to renew my passport is my passport. No license or anything else needed.
Thanks
