Permanent residency for person undergoing a clinical trial

Hello everyone,

I am aware that a person conducting research related to a clinical trial for the cure of some disease may be eligible for permanent residency.

Is it possible for a person (ie a research object) undergoing a clinical trial as a part of the cure for an uncommon cancer to be eligible for permanent residency also?
