I have to say your post is really comfusing...
First, what do you mean "filed on 10/12/2005"? "Filed" means that you have finished all the preparation steps including PWD & Ads, and submitted those information to Atlanta center. PERM is not processed in its own state. So it has nothing to do with your MD PWD backlog anymore.
For your case, it seems your "filed on 10/12/2005" means you just retained the lawyer's service on that day. In that case, only nobody but MD PWD office can help you. Call or fax to inquire if possible. BTW, I am glad that I escaped from MD months ago and got my PWD in one day elsewhere.

My perm application was filed on 10/12/2005 and just checked with my lawyer and he says due to severe back log of apps in MD its getting processed very late...no clue when...?

I don't know if months' waiting time is true or not, but I did hear my lawyer told me months ago that it took a little bit longer to get PW from MD SWA. However, I also heard that after month's waiting, somebody finally called local SWA and found out the SWA didn't receive his PWD request (at least SWA didn't have this record), so he resubmitted his request and got PWD in another 2 days....
