PERM Rejection and H1 Extension

Hi,

I want to apply GC through PERM soon. However my lawyer told me today that if my LC application got rejected, I will not be able to extend my H1-B visa after 6 year expiration. I am really surprised about that, because I have never heard of it. Does anybody know whether it is true or not? Where can I find the details of the regulation? Thank you very much.

I believe that is true.
In order to extend H1-B after 6 years, there must be a pending Immigration process that started at least 1 year ago.
Perm or not - If labor is rejected, it is not possible to extend beyond 6 years.

I am only a user of this web site. I only post what I know and I am not a professional in immigration matters.

Well what will happen to those who change their employers when they have around 1 year + months and apply GC through PERM processing,
