People waiting since interviews: Any results?

Let us have a show of hands for people like me waiting a long long time for approval after our interviews. Did any of you get your approvals yet? I have been waiting since December, 2002. It is so frustrating to hear people getting approvals right during the interviews nowadays while we are stuck in no man's land!

Thanks.

Perhaps mine is the second longest wait

I had my Interview on January 9th, 2003 and still no end to the Green Card saga. I don't know if anybody in this forum other than you, has been waiting longer than me after having gone through Interview.

did you try anything?

Wamu,

Did you try doing anything to expedite your case? Like contacting a congressman, writing to the local office, etc.? I did both with no success.

No luck for me either..

I wrote to the local office of BCIS during end of June 2003 and within a couple of days I received a reply from BCIS thanking me for my enquiry and advising that I should receive an update in 90 days. I haven't heard anything since.

I also wrote to the Senator's office. They enquired on my behalf and got a letter addressed to the Senator from BCIS that my case is pending as a response from FBI on security clearance is awaited. I called Senator's office if they can get the process expedited in any manner. They expressed their inability and asked me to enquire again, may be after three months.

Today I went to BCIS for EAD renewal (3rd) which was done in less than half an hour. I was surprised to see hardly 10-15 people in the line to enquire about their cases. Perhaps the message that visiting BCIS office will not yield any insight into the case has sunk in among the immigration benefit seekers and everybody has resigned to their fate.

God bless BCIS !!!!!

Spouse RD 02/2002,
Transferred to Chicago on 09/18/02. EAD/AP extended once, have sent 2 enquiries, but have not had any response from BCIS.

My case was transferres to a local N.Y office in january 2003.
I am still waiting for a letter scheduling my interview!!!
Looks like it takes forever!
I will need to apply for my 3rd EAD by December 2003.I didn't want to do that!My EAD expires march 4,2004.

Still waiting!!!

My wife had her I-485 AOS interview at Chiacgo BCIS on Dec. 18th 2002. We haven't received any notice from BCIS regarding GC approval. Her case was transferred to Chicago local office from Atlanta, GA (Texas service center). Noticed lot of people who were interviewed recently got instant approval. I don't know what's happening with our case. Patiently waiting for the good news.

Any suggestions to expedite this case faster?

Thanks.

What did they say at BCIS office?Did they take her fingerprints that day?Did she have a interview BEFORE her case get transferred? This doens't look rigth to me...
Can you post her receipts dates?

Wow! Same date as ours!

Looks like we went on the same date. My wife's AOS interview was also on December 18, 2002. We might have even seen each other. My wife's thumb print was taken at that time. The officer said she could not approve her case on account of the freeze at that time. Well, so far, nothing's happened. Multiple inquiries with the BCIS individually and through the congressman's office have yielded zilch!

What piece of shit BCIS is!!

I think your wife should contact BCIS office, once her case was transferred they could lost her files,it happend before with a friend of mine.I mean the file was there but in the wrong place, thank God he spent all day there but they found it and he got his GC 3 months later.
I think she should go there in person,9 months is too long.

Important dates:

Thanks for your quick reply. (Tata 2003, gc_for_spouse).

During the interview they took my wife's fingerprints and told us that they can't approve it rightaway due to national security reasons and they will let us know thru mail(usps) at a later time.

We called BCIS couple of months ago and talked to the rep.
They told us that Chicago processing time is upto 22 months from the time they start process the case(didn't make much sense). and asked us to wait for some more time. In march we had a address change(same apt. complex but diffrent unit # ) and we updated the local office. We got a reply form them saying that they have received the address change and records are updated. that 's the last correspondence we got from BCIS.

These are some of the important dates:

I-485 Receipt date : April 2001
Finger printing date: March 2002
Date of case transfer from Atlanta to Chicago: March 19th 2002
Case received at Chicago office: August 19th 2002
Date of interview: December 18th 2002
Address change date: March 2003
Reply received date: May 2003

Hope this gives you more insight into the issue.

Any advise is appreicated!

waiting after interview

HI!
I also had my interview 4 dec. 2002 (arlington office );
In july 2003 I contacted a local senator ( after enquiring BCIS office several times with no answer ) they called me back telling me my case was approved and I would be receiving an approval notice in the mail ..up to today I haven't got anything yet, I guess next week I'll go to the office myself!

What can be done to retrieve our cases from the Black Hole

Hi Guys,

I have been waiting since Jan. 9, 2003 bu no luck yet. The last contact I had with USCIS was about 15 days back when I got my 3rd EAD.

I was to get a response from them within 90 days per thier letter sent to me when I made a written enquiry about my case in June 2003. That 90 days' period has passed and haven't heard anything. I am going to send another enquiry making a reference to the earlier enquiry which remains unresponded. I know it will also meet the same fate, but I can keep my hope alive by doing so.

gc_for_spouse and Chicagogcwaiter, have you guys used the senator/ congressman channel. I did and got the standard reply that my case is pending due to secondary security clearance. If the delay in our cases is on the part of FBI, it raises serious doubts about the efficacy of the organization which is on the forefront of "Homeland Security"

I still think you should go to your local BCIS office in person. If it doen't make any difference at least they will need to touch your files.Dont you agree?

I have not contacted any congress man or senator. I agree with 'Tata 2003' about visiting the local office to see what the heck is going on!

Any updates welcome!

By the way,do you have a sample of the letter you sent to your senator? Can you post it.?
Thanks.

Same reply when I visited Local Office

Chicagogcwaiter,

I went to Chicago Office on 10/7/03 to enquire about my case. My turn came after waiting for 3 hours in the hall at 2nd floor.(Thanks to CIS that they have a waiting lounge where you can while away your time. Take some magazines, newspaper to keep yourself occupied).

After I explained my situation, the IIO looked up the computer and said that the Security Clearance is still awaited and nothing can be done other than waiting for the other agaencies to respond. What I have gathered from the details posted by an applicant at Detroit Thread that even after the security clearance is received, it gathers dust at the desk of Adjucating Officer. Unless he or she cares to look what has been received from FBI, our fate is sealed.

Please post your experience when you visit Chicago Office.

Tata,
I don't have a copy of that letter; the senator's office asked me to describe briefly my "immigration history".
Before I faxed the letter I talked to them on the phone.
