Tonyjohn, the gist of what PCee and rsrgc said was...
As PCee pointed out there is no set number of days for adjudication from the FP done date. The FP is a just a very important milestone that needs to happen before your case becomes adjudication-ready. Once a case becomes adjudication-ready, it gets moved to a shelf reserved for cases of that month of RD/ND. The cases wait on that shelf until they are assigned. They will get assigned only when there are no more adjudication-ready cases on prior months\' shelves or before this case in that months\' shelf. With the new FP scheduling system you will notice that folks who are not in the San Jose area will get FP notices and complete their FP\'s a few months before they are actually assigned. They really hurry up and wait like that sports car who shoots off when the light turns green and comes to a tire-burning screeching stop at the next red. Your Accord or Camry will coast to a stop right behind it and also wait for the same light to turn green. The light turning green is the driving equivalent of your month ND cases starting to be assigned. It really does not matter when you do your FP as long as it is sufficiently in advance to enable your background check to be completed and for your case to be adjudication-ready.
What rsrgc said was based on a case whose FP was done on March 15. Importantly, the ND of the case is Sept. Sept ND cases have already started to be assigned and approved. The 8 to 10 weeks rsrgc suggested was to give the case enough time to become adjudication-ready. Even though you did your FP in Nov 01 you are in the classic hurry up and wait mode. My case was July RD and Aug 29 ND. I did my FP\'s early in Nov 01. My case got approved in mid march 02. So, my case had to wait for over 4 months for approval. However, there were cases with comparable ND as mine did their FP in Jan-Feb 02 and got approved around the same time as my case. Do you get the picture?
