PD updates - How Often ?

Does anyone here have an idea how do the PD cutoff progresses ? For example, will the cutoff date change by a few days in the next visa bulletin by DOS ? If yes, what has been the trend in the past when PD cutoffs were not current (before 2001) ?

It may change slowly(some days for each update) upto 3rd quarter(upto jun05).
Then fast(some months for each update).probaly by next oct it may move one more year(upto 01JAN03).

as far as I know PDs are tracked quarter on quarter basis.. but this is so new I may be wrong..
