slowly, but thank God I don't see that 22APR01 anymore on the current bulletin.
It's a good sign!

FLM - I'm in the same position as you. Nice to see it move , even if it is only by 10 days. My brother was talking to an immigration lawyer last week who said that its likely that Congress will pass a new immigration bill this year helping the illegals and that this bill will make all those waiting for family based immigrant visas instantly eligible for a GC - abolishing the priority date system entirely.

Also, interestingly, each year no where near the 22,500 first preference visas are issued - usually between 17,000 and 18,000 so why they don't issue the full number is another mystery.

Who knows, how long it takes for F1?
how did the lawyer know tht??? got more information on tht misterspiceman? thtd b really nice.
I would like to know, how he got info?
But same time it would be unfair or cruel for illigals to be "forgiving" and the legal folks be on the line for many, many years! I just cannot see this happen as fair or it dosnt make sence. Like we better go the other way, make it faster for reunion with our families? America is a law abiding country, remembrer?

That would be heaven misterspaceman!
Imagine hanging on to your H1 for dear life, stuck on an underpaid job and fully exploited because of your inflexibility, seeing good opportunities evaporate because nobody would touch a H-oner. My parents are citizens, I have been legally in the country for six years, give me a chance damnit. I cannot take it anymore!

I know you want F1 to move very quickly, but here is the bad news: They are processing the last week of 245i's application also called "illegals". Lets do the math: it takes 1.5 years to process APPLICATIONS DATING: 15-22 of April 2001, that was when alot of people where trying to beat the deadline, now they start to process applications dating 22-30 April 2001(not to May 1st...it is before May 1st.) and that was the time that most people would likely to file, SO DO YOU THINK THEY WILL TAKE 1.5 YEARS OR MORE TO PROCESS THOSE APPLICATIONS? I THINK THE ANSWER IS MORE, GOD! HOPE I AM WRONG. TIRED OF THE BAD NEWS? HERE IS MORE ALOT OF PEOPLE DID MAIL THEIR APPLICATION, AND AS LONG AS IT WAS POSTMARKED BEFORE APRIL 31ST, IT WILL BE PROCESED, SO MOST LIKELY THE BACKLOG WILL CONTINUE FOR MAY APPLICATIONS, eg. CHECK EB3, WHICH PASSED THE APRIL 30th DEADLINE ONLY TO GET STUCK IN MAY.

ONLY CONGRESS CAN FREE THIS UP, AND IF I WAS A REPUBLICAN I WOULD DARE THE DEMOCRACTS TO PASS CIR WHICH GRANTS AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS, AND IF I WAS A DEMOCRAT I WILL JUST STALL THIS THING CAUSE NEXT YEAR IS THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND WE DONT WANT TO HURT OUR NOMINEE, PLUS WE WANT TO MAINTAIN OUR MAJORITY. sO AS YOU CAN SEE, THE CHANCES OF PASSING CIR IS BASICALLY NIL. THE DEBATE WILL RUN, BUT I THINK IT WILL FAIL. BUT LETS HOPE GOD HELPS US ON THIS.
