PD / 485 processing time question

Hi,
Does PD have any impact on 485 processing time? In other words, if two people applied for their 485 in 12/00, one of whom has a PD of 8/99 and the other having a PD of 5/00, would the 485 processing time be less in the first instance? Or is it the case that 485 processing is more or less a First-In-First-Out queue.

If your priority date is current, i-485 processing works on a FIFO basis. If not, the application goes to a \'Pending\' shelf and is reopened only after the PD becomes current. That is the regular process but a lot times things get messed up --> some times for better and at other times for worse. I have seen approvals, obviously by mistake, for cases that are not current and vice-versa.
