Hello All,
Right now i am using my EAD and my EAD expires on 04/03. When do you think is good to apply for renewal? I am planning to apply for renewal in december 2nd week. Do you guys think i will have a safe cushion? Please suggest me.

Around 4 months before expiry. No later than 3 months before expiry because then you have an option to go to local INS to get iEAD.
 
EAD Renewal

Hi Prasad.

I believe in playing safe. Since you are USING your EAD, you should apply before 5 six months to give cushion for a RFE also,
You will be getting one year extension from where you current EAD expires whether you apply now or you apply later. Hope that your employer is paying for renewal, so why delay.

Though applying before 4 months is also safe but INS allows you to apply six months before AP/EAD expiry . If you were using H1 not EAD, i might be suggesting to apply before 3 months of expiry

To answer your questions....
1.My EAD expires in April and i am planning to apply in dec 1st week.
2.Right now i am using my EAD not on H1.
3.My employer won't pay for my extension since i already left the company sponsoring my GC and my attorney is charging $750 for application filing and $120 INS fees. Since it is huge amount i am planning to apply by myself.
Can u guys suggest me whether it is a good idea or not.
