My AP is expiring on 10/31/02.
I need to travel abroad during the last week of Nov.
My questions to you are:

1) If I apply for AP today will I get it within a month.
2) Can I apply for extension myself ? , If Yes please let me know the procedure.

Its unlikely under the current circumstances for you to get approval for anything in one month, considering that you have not yet filed the petition. I heard that there are some emergency provisions for AP, so check up to see if your travel requirments meet that.

Second question: yes you can file it yourselves.
 
Emergency is usually considered if it's a life or death situation. Since you're planning to travel in November, it does not hold good in your case.

Looks like you just have to wait till you get your AP approved to travel abroad.
