Does anybody know if you can apply for PCC at Houston, without the original passport?

My wife's passport is issued in India abt. 5 mts. back. To get her PCC from Houston, it would required abt. 30-40 days. In the meantime, we plan to go out of the country.

So is it possible to ask the consulate to start the process of getting PCC and we can send the passport when the PCC is being made available from relavent offices in India.

It is possible to apply for a PCC, with just a copy of the passport.

When the Consulate is ready to issue the PCC, then you may send it, or carry it personally to get it stamped.

Look for details in the Indian Consulate Website.

I did the same with Houston Consulate.

I submitted the form with Passport photocopy. After Consulate received the clearance from India, they called me with my original Passport and issued PCC with a note on your passport.

Hope this helps
