PCC related questions

Hi
My lawyer has just sent the pkt3 documents to NVC. I was adviced in the forum that I apply PCC at this point. HOwever I have concerns on it . Could someone please clarify it.

*when is a good time to apply for PCC considering there might BE A DELAY IN Consulate scheduling. ie Is it good to apply immediately when the lawyer sends the Packet 3 to NVC or apply when the NVC completes review and is ready to send to the consulate.
*Is there a way to estimated when Consulate would arrange for an interview which will help me guage the approximate time to apply for PCC.
*I heard that the 6 month limitation of PCC is because PCC is issued by Indian embassy/consulate valid only for 6 months. Based on this, when does the 6 month validity start from ie does it start from the day I apply for PCC or does is it start from the day the Indian embassy issues (ie approximately 45-50 days after the application time).
*Incase of delay in interview and if the PCC expires. HOw LONG will the embassy take to REISSUE the PCC back again. My Indian consulate is Chicago.

Thanks in advance.

I applied for my PCC when my lawyer sent the packet 3 to consulate. It takes 40 days for the PCC. So I would suggest you apply for it pretty soon. If your priority date is current it shouldn't be too long before your case is forwarded to the consulate. My case was received at the NVC on Feb 2nd and forwarded to the consulate on the 16th. I am going to pick up my PCC today. And I'm not sure but I think PCC is valid for a year.

concur with aonflux above.

* Indian consulate would care less about if it is valid beyond 6 mo. or beyond. The accepting party would have some sort of guideline for the validity. It is the general impression that Mumbai consulate would want the PCC issued in the past 6 mos. The issue date is the start date for the clock.

* In most likely cases, if you apply at the same consulate, it should not take more then 10 days. (Same day if you go in person).

HI aonflux, alren
thanks for your valuable replies.

Hi aonflux
My priority date is 5/03 and the category is Employment based EB3. I see that for that category for an Indian Citizen, it is 01/02 right now. Based on this when do you expect the interview date. My consulate is Chennai, India. Plus can you please let me know what is your priority date and do you belong to Chennai consulate as well. What is your interview date?

Thanks

I have an EB1 petition so priority date is current. I wish I knew when you could expect an interview but your priority date is quite far away from the current date in the visa bulletin. I am at the Mumbai consulate.
All the best.

Pcc ?

Lived in Bombay since Birth to year 2000
Statyed in USA since 2000 me & my wife....
Already applied & got the PCC from Indian Consulate here in USA.
Do we need any other PCC from Bombay ? etc.
Please advice..
Thanks in Advance

You will have to make sure that the PCC was issued within 6 months of date of interview at consulate.
Time between packet 3 and interview date can exceed more than 6 mos (as in my case). If your passport was issued in US, then the PCC from that consulate will suffice - I got mine from SFO office in 1 day a couple of weeks before I left for interview.
