PCC Never issued by Local HQ

Hi Cp gurus,
I need some help. I am expecting my CP interview sometime in September in Mumbai. I have read in the threads here that people have been asked for the local PCC, inspite of carrying one from the Indian Consulates in US. Since I have some time, I asked my parents and freinds to enquire about the process of getting a local PCC from Indore(MP). All of them have been running around in circles there, for the local authorities claim that they never issue PCC to the people directly, and they have never had a request like this before. All they have been suggesting is for me to obtain one from the local Indian Consulate in US. I am ready to go to India a few days in advance to get the local PCC, but the problem is that all the Police authorities are refusing to issue PCC to anyone.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If you are currently in US the only PCC you need is the one you
get from the local consulate/Embassy.

What you should note is, the consulate issues the PCC based on the feeback that they get from local PP office/police authorities.
To make our lives a little bit easy, they have made this a time bound operation. What it means is they allow a reasonable period of time for those people in India to give a report and if they do not receive it in that time they go ahead and issue the PCC to you. This is the reason for that 35 to 40 days time they take.

Thanks for your reply.

I am obataining a PCC from Washington DC-our passports are with them and hopefully I should receive the PCC in a few days. But some of the threads in this forum(unfortunately I do not know how to paste hyperlinks to them) have mentioned that they were asked for 2 PCC by the consular officer, inspite of their living in US. And if I remember correctly, one of the participants even mentioned that his visa was refused till he went back to his home town and got a local PCC. For these eventualities I want to be prepared beforehand.

Based on the comments I have seen in this forum- you do not need PCC from local police stations in India if you have been living in the US, the same applies to your family members also.

As someone has suggested in this forum, write to US consulate and ask for the PCC requirements, and if they say you need PCC's from local police stations then get them and if they say you do not need one then take a copy of the email response from US consulate and go for CP interview without one.

And if you decide to get PCC's from local police stations it could take you longer than just a few days! Of course it depends on the city/town from where you need PCC's.
