Hi All,

This week I am planning to go to NewYork Consulate to
apply in person. Following are the documents I am
carrying:

1) Filled Misselaneous form with photo
2) Original passport
3) A photocopy of the passport
4) Enough bucks ($11 processing + $22 telex)
5) Myself :)

Do I have to carry anything else?
If any of you have experience in getting PCC in person from NY or any other consulate please share with me
your experience.

Will I have to leave my passport with them?
Can I pick it up when it is done.
I don't want them to send my passport back by Post.

Thanks,
Bikash.

well

you can mail the application by post. and last time I checked, it was $40 per person. Then, you wait. if 45 days pass and you do not hear anything from them by then, you can call them, tell them that, and then go personally for a day and they will issue it to you the same day.

That way, you can make it in one trip. what happens is, normally they hear back from INdia, and then they ask for your passport to issue the PCC. either way you have to send passport only once for the actual issuing. you neednot go to give the application itself, you can mail it wil notarized pages o fyour passport.
