PCC from New York

do we have to send original passport to indiancgny for police clearance.? Any idea how long it would take to get the PCC ? Will they hold our passports until we get the PCC ?
anyone has any expericence .... please share

bigblue: From what I\'ve read in this forum...

if you\'re holding a passport that was issued from India it takes about 35 days to get your PCC. You just need to send in a notarized copy of your passport (all the important pages) but they will need the original passport when you go and pick it up. If you can\'t go and pick it up you *have* to send in your original passport.

On the other hand, if your passport (issued from India) has expired (i.e., completed 10 years or Final) and if you have been issued a new one from IndiaCGNY, then the PCC takes only a day or two.
