PCC from local Police in Mumbai

Hi - I have a CP interview on June 26, 2002. I got a PCC for myself and my wife from the Indian Consulate, Houston.
I read several posts on this page where a local PCC was required by the US Consulate, Mumbai along with the PCC from the Indian consulate. Bluegrass\'s efforts have cleared up that problem. However, to be on the safe side I wanted to take a local PCC along for the interview.

My parents approached the local police station in Mumbai and they said they could not issue a PCC. The commissioner\'s office at V.T. said that the consulate PCC is issued only after clearance from the commissioner\'s office so that should be sufficient. They even gave this in writing on the Deputy Commissioner\'s letterhead. Is there no way of getting a PCC from Mumbai police?

Does anyone know the procedure for getting a local PCC in Mumbai?

No Title

They shouldn\'t ask you for Local PCC anymore. However, to be on the safe side, if you would like to take it - then go ahead. If they are not willing to give you a local PCC - then just get that in writing. I know some people who got that from their local police station and the consulate will accept that.
good luck.

Some time back

I had downloaded a letter from this forum.
It was issued from Mumbai Police saying they can not issue PCC. If you like I can fax/email you. Unable to upload here.

Local PCC

I had appeared for the interview on 29th May at Mumbai Consulate and for safe side I got PCC from local PS. However they did not ask for it. Here is procedure to get the PCC :

1) Write an application to District Police Commisioner\'s Office, Passport Section for PCC for your Immigration to US and attach the copies of your passport and PCC obtained from India Consulate in US. They will give you a sealed envelope to be submitted to your local police station where you reside.

2) You can take that letter to your local police station and they may ask to submit an affidavit from your parents that they do not have any objection. If your parents are not there then get the affidavit from your nearest relative on their behalf.

3) On receipt of these papers local PS will prepare a letter (NOC) for District Police Commssioner\'s Office and give it to you. If you are ready to pay you can get it done in a day or two. You have to go in person.

4) Once you produce this NOC to District Police Commissioner\'s office they will issue you PCC.

Hope this helps
