PCC from Local Indian Consulate

Hi,

My current Indian PCC will be older than six months when I appear for my CP interview and I will have to get them from local Indian Consulate. Any idea if Indian consulates here ask for original passports or will they be OK with just the photocopies. if photocopies are OK then it solves my problem. I tried calling Houston CGI today but surprisingly nobody picked the phone.

Any experiences/comments...?

You will need original passport as they have to stamp the passsport;but the good news is that you dont have to send the original when you apply for it; just photocopies would do. But you have to send the original when they call you and say its ready. It would take approximately 30 to 45 days to get PCC. If your passport is issued by Indian consulate here, then you can get your PCC in couple of days. If you have less than 45 days for CP, then call up the indian consulate before sending it; Or, get PCC in india.
