I wanted to know the requirements for requesting a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from Indian Consulate in Washington DC.

Q1: How many photographs are needed with the application?
Q2: Do I need any other document except the three listed below:
1. Completed miscellaneous services form,
2. Reason for requesting the service cover letter,
3. Cashier Check/Money Order of $20.
Q3: Cashier Check/Money Order should be issued to "Embassy of India"? Is that right?
Q4: Do I need to send an additional amount for return by FedEx or I can just include a pre-paid/pre-addressed FedEx envelope with the application?
Q5: How long is the PCC valid for? One year or 6 months?

Thanks in advance.

I had got it in March this year ....

Q1: How many photographs are needed with the application?
I think its one.

Q2: Do I need any other document except the three listed below:
1. Completed miscellaneous services form,
2. Reason for requesting the service cover letter,
3. Cashier Check/Money Order of $20. ( I had paid $40 per person as that is what they had asked at that time)

Q3: Cashier Check/Money Order should be issued to "Embassy of India"? Is that right?
I had paid cash ... but follow the instructions on the website....

Q4: Do I need to send an additional amount for return by FedEx or I can just include a pre-paid/pre-addressed FedEx envelope with the application?
No additional amount ... if they make a mistake then they will send u a new PCC without any extra charge.

Q5: How long is the PCC valid for? One year or 6 months?
One year

I would suggest calling them and asking for Indira Johnson .... she is very helpful and u should be able to get her between 10 - 12:30 am ... I could never speak to her after lunch !!! She is in the counsular section.

fee asked $11

im9999,

Which Indian consulate did you go to?

I called the Houston, TX consulate and the rep told me that the fee for PCC from Houstom. TX is only $11.

I am planning to send a pre-paid/self-addresses FedEx envelope with the application.

I am hearing different fees from different individuals. I think the fee to just get the PCC is $20 in Washington and $11 in Houston, TX.

Also please post the phone number to reach Indira Johnson and which consulate she is in?

Please correct me, if I am wrong.

Thanks.

Re: fee asked $11

Each consulate differ in some extent, may like to visit their web site & call them for exact details.

The $40 fees was for the expedited service as per Indira ... she gave us the PCC in 2 weeks .....
