PCC From Indian Consulate Chicago

For those of you seeking PCC from Indian Consulate - Chicago, but dont know the whereabouts yet:

Consulate Phone number: 312-595-0405
Talk to USHA, at extension: 227
(she deals with PCC applications).
Best time to reach her: After 3 pm Eastern Time.

Docs required at the time of application:
- Photocopy of passport-pages (better to send copy of ALL pages)
- Cashier's Check / Bank Draft of $20 for each applicant payable to "Consulate General of India, Chicago"
- Miscellaneous form (downloadable from Consulate webpage) filled in for each applicant, with color passport-style photo.
- Cover letter describing the need for PCC.

Docs required at the time of issuance of PCC:
- Original Passport for every applicant
- Cashier's Check / Bank Draft of $20 for each applicant payable to "Consulate General of India, Chicago"
- Cover letter again (describing need for PCC).
- If passports sent by courier, include Cashier's check for $16 towards return courier fees.

Confirm with Usha, before sending application.
Process takes 45-50 days since initial application is sent.

That's the REF fee.The form says
'Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) (FEE: $20) & REF FEE $20.00(issued only on clearance from authorities in India)'
