Superman, CPGurus and all other friends, How do we get PCC for those in India. My wife is in India for the past 5 months. (Thanks to the screw up by the attorney). How do we get PCC for her?

Do we need to goto local police station and ask them? If so, what is the format in which we get PCC?
OR/AND (please spcify either or both)
Do we need to goto Regional Passport Office and get PCC from them?

Also where do we get PCC for my wife? All her life, she lived in Trichy (her place). She was here in the US for 4 months. For the past 5 months, she is in both Trichy and Madras (my place). We specified Madras as her present address in Packet 3. Where do we get PCC for her?
 
S.P. Office.

There is a dept. in S.P. Office who issue Police Clearance Certificates to Passport office. Regional Passport office get their certs. from this office. You have to request PCC with a letter and a copy of the passport to Writer. Writer is the title of the person who takes this requests and verify the records and issue the certificate. They may take any where from 2-30 days to issue such certificate. Regional Passport Office issue certicates to consulates only. Hope this helps.
 
So we need to go to Writer at SP office? Am i right?

Please confirm. Also do we need to go to the local police station in addition to this?

More over my wife lives in Trichy (her place) and Madras (my place) for the past 5 months. She shares the time equally. I put Madras as her current residence in Packet 3 as that is where she needs to go for the Consulate Interview. So do we need PCC from Madras. (We do not have her name added to rashion card in madras. In this case, how much possible it is to get PCC from Madras?). Please explain.
 
Yes. You need to goto Writer. No need of Local police stn.

I think S.P. office cover only one district. So, If you filled two cities Trichy and Madras on her P-3, I think you need to get it from two S.P. offices. This one I am not sure. You can ask in one of the S.P. offices. They could tell what area they would cover. Also if your wife stayed less than 6 mos. in Madras by Interview time, you don\'t need PCC from Madras.
 
Similar Situation.. Pls help

I got Jan 2002 interview date. My wife is in India from last 2 months. As PCC stuff started after she left for India, I can\'t get PCC for her from SF Indian Consulate. Now Here is the problem:
Her passport issued from Delhi office, at that time we were in Delhi. Now she is in Bihar(my permanent residence). Her passort address show New Delhi\'s address. Now what to do? Does she need address updated on passport and get PCC from Patna Passport office? or She has to take from Delhi passport office. Pls help...
