Did anyone get their pcc from Chicago.. how long is it taking.
I have applied it and its about 30 days and I have not got it
yet.. please comment, as to how long it took for you...

I should not take more than 30 days. I got my PCC in exactly 30 days from SanFrancisco. Chicago also should not more than that as both consulates depend on same indian pass port offices..

What is needed for CHICAGO PCC

GetGCNow:
I need to apply for my PCC at Chicago-Consulate. I have a bunch of questions. However the Chicago Consulate Passport officer( Deepa Mehta) is being a prick in answering the questions.

*Can one apply for PCC by mail
*Do we have to mail the orginal passport or will a notarized photocopy do for the PCC
*Does Chicago accept Telex fees
* Can we include the return mail fees-Telex Fees-PCC fees in one cashiers check
*What is the processing time for passports that have been issued by Chicago Consulate.
* Do they require the original Passport when they issue the PCC
* For the PCC process does the consulate keep your orginal passport in their custody, until the PCC is issued
* Is there a special stamp for PCC on ones passport and seperate certificate.

I would really appreciate if GetGCNow or anyone who has past experience of getting PCC from Chicago, can answer my questions

Thanks,
Bapa

Here are some answers to your questions.....
Yes, you can apply for PCC by mail.
First you need to send a copy of your passport, and later when the consulate informs you that your PCC has arrived, you have to send your passport for PCC stamp.
I am not sure about telex fees, but I sent a bank draft for fees.
Yes, you can include the mailing fee in the same check.
If you passport has been issued by chicago consulate, it takes less than 2 days for them to issue PCC. {but not certain about this one.}

There is both a special stamp, and a separate certificate for PCC.

Hope this answers your questions..

thanks ravi , I would have answered the same .. Well I have a
question, my Passport was issued in Chicago (well renewed) still
looks like I have to wait for 30 days.
Did you get the PCC from Chicago already?
How is the review at NVC going.. we both may be going to
chennai at the same time.

Re: Re: Re: What is needed for CHICAGO PCC

Mine was issued at SFO and I got the PCC in two(2) days. I had sent the original passport with the extra $15 dollars for overnight delivery. So hopefully you should be getting it soon.

Re: Re: Re: What is needed for CHICAGO PCC

Hi GetGCNow,
Yes, I already got my PCC from chicago.
I got it in Febuary, it has been almost 7 months since I got it.
PCC is valid for 1 yr as per Chennai US consulate.

Yes, we might be going to chennai at the sametime, but since your review was done on 8/16, you might actually landup for Oct interview.... and since mine was done on 8/21, I might landup with Nov interview.....

I guess they will not insist on H1 copy and pay stubs.

Re: Re: Re: More info

They do if your old H1 visa got expaired in your passport and about paystubs, consulate wants to know that ur still legal in this country.

PCC-chicago

I applied for PCC at Chicago on 07/23/02 and yet to get it. I talked to the officer and she mentioned that it should take 30 -35 days. And once they receive info from India, they are going to call the candidate to deliver the PCC. My case was faxed to India on the very next day and after three weeks(when I called Indian Consulate at Chicago), they sent a reminder to India. The officeer indicated that sending reminder after three weeks is a part of the procedure followed in Chicago. I'm planning to call them early next week to find the status.
cheers!!

My visa was expired by the time I applied for PCC and they did't ask either of my L1 or pay stubs. Any way mine was Sanfrancisco consulate. Not sure how other consulates operate....

My Visa has also expired but I have the new approval notice. Consulate Chicago didn't ask me for the new notice while accepting my application. I don't know whether they will ask for it while handing over the PCC. The gentleman at the counter though asked me to bring original P/P and $20 while collecting PCC.
cheers!!

hi GetGCNow,
I too applied for GC on 07/23 at Chicago consulate. I called consulate on last Friday(08/30) and a lady told me just to give her a call between 4 -5 PM on Tue(09/03) and accordingly I called her today and she said, since they haven't got back from India and the case is more than 35 days old, she needs to discuss the issue with her Supervisor and after a minute or so, she told me to collect the PCC tomorrow morning. So, I'll be hopefully, getting PCC tomorrow. Why rn't u calling Indian Consulate at Chicago ?
cheers!!
