At the embassy you have to pay first and then have the interview. If they disqualify for whatever reason during it your money is lost.

This is my first entry here. I am a winner of dv2008. I have already done my interview in Tunisia and was approved provided I submit police certificate from Canada.

As I said earlier, the Visa Officer has extensive decisive authority. In Dhaka Consulate, the Visa Officer allowed some of the primary applicants to attend interview without their spouses. The option was if the applicant was successful , he could pay the spouses fees and have their interviews taken too.
It totally depends on the Consulate and Officer. Such as the Visa Officer , in a pre-interview session will brief about the interview process on the date. He would also pick up the unsuccessful applicants (those who had problems in education or documentations), Visa Officer will also discourage them about attending the interview as they wont be successful and finally loose the interview fees

At the interviw the lady asked my some of the question which are already on the application form. She also asked about the cit which I will move to. She also asked about how much money I will take with me to the us. Very easy intrview

I took with me my bank statement which is showing an amount less than $30000. This is for myself, my wife and four kids. I showed here also documents of property but she did not even look at them. She asked me how much money I will be taking to the us I said if I sell my house I will take with me at least $100000.
