does it really matter that attorney has to send packet 3 not us?
reason i ask, my attorney wants to put lot more stuff with packet 3
like a cover letter, name change and spin-off related documents and
also wants to mention a thing about amended I-140 and also a statement
about company financial condition.
I am against all of this, i just want to send ds230part1 and if needed
some supporting document showing proof of successor in interest. shall
i send it instead? help me here!
thanks in advance,

I will tell you what I did, why and then you can decide for yourself and your situation.

Once I-140 was approved on Aug 13th 2001. I received the message by attorney after 2 weeks. My attorney wanted to fill in P3 for me and send it on her own sweet time. I did not have that much time(considering economy and possibility of loss of job)I started hanging out on this forum and others to get otjher people\'s experience and to understand the process/timelines etc.
I figured out if I can get in my P3 to Delhi by Oct 10th 2000 i will have agood chance of Nov end interview or latest Dec interview.

I got all my forms ready. Got my attorney to read over them & approve. waited for NVC to send my case to the consulate and after one week of that got my P3 hand delivered to Delhi Consulate.

On Nov 14th I got a packet from My Attorney\'s office. It was my P3 my paralegal had filled in and was ready to send to the consulate. Imagine she spent over 1 month to get the Docs prepared. By then I even had my interview scheduled for Dec 12th.

I am not saying the Paralegal was incompetent. But definately she did not have the same sense of urgency that I had, hence she spent time like it was freely awailable.

In any case Attorney cannot help you much with CP after the 140 is approved. If you feel you can handle it, I would advise to take stuff in your own hands. if your job condition is tight then you might wanna hurry things up.

TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, YOU DO NOT NEED AN ATTORNEY TO REPRESENT YOU AFTER I-140 HAS BEEN APPROVED.
(I just gave you details so that you can get more background)

thanx

same case here regarding job situation, and to complicate company
has gone through major restructuring resulting in new federal id.
and our immigration attorney applied for I-140 amendments. that
was ok with me, but i really wanted to take a shot at it with the
supporting documents i have. lawyer is giving me hard time and
constantly discouraging not to take CP route. i have no other
option but go it on my own.
