My firend in SL won DV 09, but he almost gave up !
But he is now convinced and sent the details to KCC and got an interview appt early Sept. !

He is well qualified (BS Eng.+MBA+CIMA), but the prob is how much he need to show as bank balance?

is i-134 or i-864 compulsory? do they at Colombo embassy insist on these? or qualifications and money in the bank will work?
Can those of you already had the experience share your thoughts?
and also which Dr (out of the 2) in Colombo is recomended?
Dr. R or the one at Asiri?

Pl help

Thanks

(I am on F1 in USA, so no way i can sign his i-134.864 !)

Hi,

As far as I know he needs to show sufficient funds over the federal poverty level. Check out the following website:

aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/09poverty.shtml

He should be OK if he can provide one or a combination of the following:

1. Personal funds in a bank account that amount to over the federal poverty level (depending of family size)
2. A US sponsor who can show sufficient funds to support your friend (+family) ex:I-134
3. US job offer

This is based on what I've found out so far. However, I would recommend that you research a bit more just to confirm.

As for the doctors... sorry, I have no info on that.

if he can get a letter from a Us Citizen saying that he's sponsoring your friend and he's providing food and lodging (sponsor) until your friend settle down in USA, thats enough, no need of other documents or Bank balance.

i recommend Asiri.

Thanks, and good to know they do not insist on i 364/864 (any other ppl with a different SL experience, where they asked you for those forms?)

And what is the procedure at CMB embassy, you go on the interview date with all the documents or you have to submit the documents beforehand?

thanks

You have to submit all the documents on the interview date.when the time comes u get a call from embassy and they ask your name and id number and they will take the police report on behalf of you.

All the best

What supporting documents do you have to present with the 'sponsorship' letter? just few salary slips would do? or a formal letter from the employer?

they asked the sponsor letter, and other important documents such as birth certificate, marriage certificate(translate all the documents to english). they didnt ask salary slip or employer letter. the most important thing is G.C.E. O/L results.embassy will call you when your number become current and they tell you other details.
