Passport validity required for TD

Hello all,

If my spouse applies for a TD visa (at a consulate) today and her passport is valid for a little over one year, would she be denied? My TN visa is valid for a couple more years. The plan is for her to renew her passport closer to the expiry date and move her TD visa over to the new passport.

I am not sure about denial, but, Consulate may match the TD visa stamp expiration date to her passport expiration date. Once she gets a new passport, she can go back and get a fresh visa with new expiration date which matches with your I-94 expiration date.
