Has anyone gone for a new H-1 stamping faced issues regarding validity of their Indian passport?
The required H-1 visa documents list clearly states: "A passport valid for travel to the US with a validity date at least 6 months beyond the applicants intended period of stay in the US".
So those of us applying around this time for a new H-1 need to have a passport valid till 2006 atleast, I assume.
However, the earliest that the passport office is willing to renew is one year before expiry date of passport.
How does the consulate treat this question of valid passport if the passport is soon to expire, does anyone know?
Thanks,
Shefali
