Passport Stamping: Questions

Folks,
My passport expires in the middle of next year and I need to go for stamping sometime soon as I received my approval a couple of days back. The question I have is:

i. Should I renew my passport now and use that now for stamping? Would it cause any issues as my I-94 is tied to this passport (atleast, physically attached) and my last entry into the US was using this passport?

ii. Or, should I use the current passport for stamping? If I did this, what would I need to do when it expires? Do I need to go for stamping again? Is that okay?

Thanks!

Use your current passport. After your stamping, you should be able to get the card in 8-10 weeks (according to USCIS; although you may get it sooner).

Even if you renew your passport, you will still have your current/expired passport attached to the new one.

Why not renew your passport now since you can do it upto one year prior to expiry of your current one. It only takes a day if you live close to Indian consulate or maybe a week (by mail) if you live farther away.

Then, do your I-551 stamping on the new passport. Even if there is some unforseen delay in receiving your cards, the new passport with the stamp can be used for travel.

I renewed my passport last year and did my I-551 stamping on that new one. The last time I entered this country was on my older passport and I-94 attached to it. Did not have any issues with the I-551.

Remember to carry all your passports, old and new, when you travel.

My 2 cents.
