Passport stamping (potential) problem/Question

My attorney told me that it is better to have my passport validity >1 yr for stamping. He said that the USCIS sometimes give hard time to people with <1yr passport validity. My passport is going to expire December this year (11mo. left), however, my country's consulate won't extend/renew validity of passports with more than 6 months validity left.

Anyone has experience/comments/suggestions?

I am slowly getting nuts dealing with stupid bureaucracies from 2 sides of the world.

I stamped in Chicago office. At that time, my passport will expire in 9 months. So the officer stamped and the stamp will expire in 8 months. By then, if I still not receive the plastic card, I have to go the office to renew my stamp.

No worry.
