Could you share your experience of passport stamping in Houston. I am planning to go down there next Friday. I have few questions like:
1. Is there any photo studio in the immigration area where I can take pictures
2. When I have to be there meaning is there any specific time after that they do not allow any applicants to go inside.

I live in a small town of Texas, your help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

You need to go to the INS Building at 126 North Drive. This is accessible from
Beltway 8 North. For detailed directions go to maps.yahoo.com.
The best time to go there is after 9 AM. The counters open at 7:15 AM but
there will be a heavy rush at that time for other services and you could spend
upto 2 hours waiting in the queue. My advice is to go after 9 or in the afternoon.
We went in the afternoon (around 1 PM) and finished the process within 10
minutes. You go to counter #16 and submit your approval notice with the
passport and I-94. Normally, there would not be anybody at counter 16 as
the number of applicants for I-551 process is very few. The person manning
the counter will be away and check for new applications every 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Do not wait in any other queue as there is no need. Just wait at Counter 16.
They will ask for 2 ADIT style photos with your name, A# pencilled at the
back. They will fill out a I-89 form and ask you to sign it and take your
fingerprint on the form. Finally the passport will be stamped and returned.
I-94 and ocassionally EAD\'s will be taken away as they are invalid after
stamping. My EAD was not taken but the EAD of the person ahead of me was.
There is a photo counter next to cashier within the building which is
bit expensive. I would advice you to take the photos in the little shop
right across the building in the opposite street. You can not miss it
as it has a large sign advertising Immigration Photos.

Spoke to an IIO

Hi all,

I spoke to an IIO this afternoon. I asked her about the status of my case. She said it can take 30-45 days since at present they are doing 1/3/2000 cases.( My Notice date is Feb 2000) But after a while she put me on hold and later told me that she requested my file( from where I do not know) and asked me to call them back if I did not hear in 30-45 days. What does it mean ?Can anyone interpret ?
