Passport Stamping in San Francisco (630 Sansome St.)

I used the csc77 posting from 12/28/00 from "ciba" web site
(http://www.geocities.com/ciba_2/I485/experiences/passport.htm).
If you go to INS-San Francisco you have to read that. All what is
there is still valid and very useful. Thank you very much to csc77
and ciba.

I wouldn\'t repeat what csc77 already said (but read it before you
go forward), so I\'ll try to be short:

1. Parking is really a mess. Public transportation is highly
recommended. In front of INS there is parking with $5/20min.
and a little further is $2.50/20min. The best deal is on street
meters, but it\'s very hard to find.
2. The entrance in the building is guarded and they will scan the
bags and persons that want to come in. They asked if I have an
appointment. I said yes and shown them the I-485 approval; then
they explained me how to get to room 200B. (nice guys)
3. After the room 200B "process" and waiting (see csc77 memo): at
window 15 the INS officer asked for EAD and AP. This is not because
they need them, but because the stamps on the passports are taking
place of all those. (So if you want to keep them...) They didn\'t ask
for I-94, even the approval notice said to bring it.
4. The stamps are for 1 year. The INS officer said that they have
power of "green card" and the plastic card will come in 6 months.
5. All process took 50 min. It was Wednesday and I walked in
at 1:15PM. The place was pretty crowded, but it went faster
then I expected.

Overall it was OK and it\'s giving a great feeling to know you got
to this point.

Good luck to everybody.

Hi msmilo,

Congratulations on the approval. I am so happy for you. I would like
to thank you (in the dicussion board) for all your help to our CSC
tracking lists, especially in last December when I was away for
several weeks. I will upload your post to the Personal Experiences
shortly. Thanks so much, and wish you well for your future endeavor.

Thank you very much Ciba not only for this post, but also for all your efforts and great job that you are doing on the discussion groups and the web page. I\'ll still look at postings and try to help.
