Passport stamping experience in Providence

Hi,

I am not sure if too many people go for PP stamping in the Providence, RI office. This may be of help to a few people that have to go.

1. I went in Monday morning at 8am. Office opens at 8am so I took appt for that time.

2. Got there at about 7:55am. You have to find a parking spot on a street or park in a paid lot (2 nearby I saw). I found a spot on a street as it was early.

3. There were 4 people in front of me. Before going in, I saw a big picture of dubya on the doorway - so thought ok, there goes my day!! We were all checked by security.

4. I was assigned a number and told to put my appt printout in bin A.

5. Waited for about 5 mins and was called by name. No hassles, guy took my PP, approval notice and photos. Had me sign and took FP. Asked me to wait, went in for a few mins and came out with stamped passport and verified my address. Told me it would take 6 months for the card (I guess standard reply). I was out by 8:25am.

6. What was surprising was he didnt ask for EAD and AP, I asked him if he needed them and he said "You dont need those anymore, just toss em". But u definitely need AP/EAD in most cases, so take them even if u go to the Prov office.
