Gurus,

Is there anybody, who has got their Passports stamped from a different INS center than one specified in their 485 approval notice.
I need help on this, because I am away on project from my local INS center(Newark, NJ) and I would like to go to San Jose, CA INS center.

Any help?

Thanks,

Just show up at San Francisco (not San Jose) office and explain
to them that you are travelling out of town. They should be
able to help you and stamp your passport.

Why not San Jose?? You suggested San Francisco because of long queue at San Jose??

First of all thank you very much for your reply CIBA.
Why not San Jose?? You suggested San Francisco because of long queue at San Jose? Or only San Francisco INS accepts cases like mine?

Any idea?

Thanks in advance,

Agreed, but it take at least 1 1/2 hour each way to reach San Francisco INS from my place.

Are there any factors other than "waiting time"?
As I told before "I want to visit INS near the place where I live ( San Jose, CA ) instead of "Newark, NJ" for PP stamping"

Dude!

If you are fine with getting up 1 am going to San Jose and wait in line. Then it is your call.

Venkat,

Snoop\'s point is exactly what I had in mind: I did not
want to advise you to go to San Jose because of the daily
long line there. What if you get up at midnight and
wait in the quene only to find out San Jose would not
help you? It\'s better to go to San Francisco where
line is much shorter.

Thanks Ciba.

Appreciated your prompt reply. Going to SFO is not a problem. In fact I worked in Sansome st few months ago.
