Passport Stamping at a different place

Hi Folks,
I need your suggestions. I have my approved I-485 Notice from VSC, asking me to go to my Local INS office at Arlington VA for stamping(The then Home address was the VSC Zone address, at the time of filing). I recently moved to the Detroit Area. Can I go to Local INS at Detroit instead?. I will be mailing the AR-11 soon. Will it delay the actual Physical Card. I am Curious as to how the Card is issued? Is it issued by VSC or NSC. Lawyers give conflicting suggestions. It is difficult, if not impossible for me to make a trip to Arlington, VA due to family circumstances. I have put off by a month already.
Readers, Please Please Share your experience/ or your known one's. I am sure it is quite common, but was never discussed in this forum.

you can get it stamped anywhere. i have done that too. mine was filed in vsc from maryland, then changed address to NJ, but now after approval got it stamped in Indianapolis. I have no idea about the physical card as to how will it be processed.

I got approved on august 23, 2002. Received courtesy copy in 5 days, then took that copy, passport, 2 ADIT photos, I94 and went to Indianapolis INS office on Sept 10, 2002 and got it stamped. Waiting for the physical card, i have no idea about that process.... maybe the seniors and gurus may explain about it......
