Seems like courtesy copy is enough for passport stamping. My case was approved on 11/17/01 and courtesy copy was received on 11/17/01. I did not wait for official approval notice as my lawyer suggested. But everything went smoothly.
One more question, does it matter my stamping document ( I-551) is sent to NSC instead of VSC where my I-485 was approved?
