Folks,
We got our passports stamped today at the LA downtown INS office. Though the approval notices asked us to go to one location in the office in the 1st floor for which the line was incredibly long, thanks toa tip from a friend and a knowledgeable security guard who asked me to go to the second floor of the building, the line for which was much shorter. We went in at around 7-15 AM and got out by about 8-30 AM.
Tips for folks in LA: Do not unnecessarily wait in the long line, you should go to the shorter line on the other side and go up the elevator to the 2nd floor.
There are two offices one in the first floor for "Adjustment of status inquiries" (You need not wait in the long line for this). You may go to the one in the second floor that is for "Adjustment of status interviews" and also for stamping.
