Passport renewal before PR visa stamping?

Hi,

I've got the PPR (passport request) from LA consulate but I'm still out of USA (in India) on a business trip and will go back to USA in Feb'07. My passport expires in July 2007. PPR letter states that the passport should be valid for 6 months. So if I go in Feb then it makes touch and go kind of. Is that Ok if I get my passport renewed while I'm in India and then get the PR visa stamped? OR will that cause any problems as I'll get new passport number after renewal. My medicals expire in May 2007. Please advise.

No Problems, you can renew your passport.
