I will apologize in advance if this is not the right forum or if this sounds trivial.

I have a son who will automatically become a citizen once we do. How can I apply for his passport at the same time I apply for mine? I am asking this because my naturalization certificate will be with my application. SO, what else can prove his eligibility?

No, your naturalization certificate will be given to you after you take the oath. so that you can use it for your son's passport along with his birth certificate.
 
US Dept of State will accept a copy of your naturalization certificate along with your son's green card as a proof while your original certificate is being used for your passport.
 
eltoro is right, but not all post office employees know to do this. You might want to drop by your post office ahead of time and tell them what you want to do. I did that and they said it was alright. The day after oath I took the whole family and did all passports at once. The post office passport agent took a photocopy of my spouse's certificate scribbled something on it (probably to certify the copy) and stapled to my child's GC. It worked like a charm, so if your post office won't do that look for other that will. It can be done.
 
When I have applied for me and my wife, I also wanted to apply for my daughter using our cert. copies and her GC and birth certificate. The lady at the post office didn't understand as to how to submit for my daughter. So I didn't do it that time.

Then we waited for our passports and once they arrived, went to a different post office. Here the clerk has accepted our passport copies, her GC and birth certificate. We just filed 3 days ago.
 
Did the same(Post Office, GC, Copy of Natz and Birth Cert), got one kid's passport today. Status for the other one is the same as the one whose passport we got today. So, it should be coming in any day now. The Passport Card and the original docs will be mailed seperately.
