passport problem

Hi all,

I lost my passport and i live in ny area, has anybody gone thru the process of getting a new passport process after loosing it....if they can share their experience i will REALLY appreciate..

Typically you have to do these steps:

1. File a police report
2. Apply for new passport (contact the embassy of your country)
3. Reapply for visa outside of US (if you want to travel)

Thanx for response..for police report do i need to get a letter from embassy first...coz thats what my local police office is asking for...any ideas?

I know, thats like chicken-and-egg problem. Talk with somebody in your country's embassy, show photo copy of your passport, show proof of your nationality, and request for such a letter. I doubt that you'll get one.
