Passport Photo Requirement

After going through all the threads here, I was confused about where to get my passport sized photos for the OCI. I know lot of you have used epassportphoto and have been successful. I contacted OCI , San Francisco and asked them if a white background from WalGreens or Costco is acceptable and here is their response:

Question:
The photo requirement states a background of lightly colored. Most of the stores like Walgreens, Costco etc in the US take a passport photo against a white background. Is that acceptable?

Answer from OCI:
Yes we will accept it provided the pictures are sharp and clear with a good contrast for scanning.


And they were very prompt with their response . I got it within a day.

I got mine at Costco and they were accepted without any problem.
 
Photos - Please help

has anyone had luck sending photos with white background. I just got my photos done and then noticed from CGNY that they need a coloured background. Is this mandatory.
If mandatory can you folks let me know how you guys got the color background PP phots done
