Passport: Payable to "Department of State" vs "U.S. Department of State"

I went to post office to apply for my passport. They asked me to put the payable as "Department of State". Last night, I checked the guide line saying the payable should be "U.S. Department Of State".

Do you think my application will be sent back because of missing the "U.S." in the payable?

I should have read the guide line carefully rather than listening the staff from USPS thou :(

thanks for your input in advance

hi ocworker. I applied at the post office and the staff asked me to write "Department of State". I did ask if I need to write "U.S." and the staff said "it's the same"
Relax, our applications should be fine.

I applied one day earlier than you did, and I used expedited service as well.
I will let you know any update since we should receive our passports around the same time...

did you use the 2-ways overnight delivery? the USPS staff suggested me only use the 1 way overnight delivery for return because it makes no different to ship via overnight delivery on Sat. Oh well... if there has any delay,i hope it would be 1-2 days max delay.

2-way

I used 2-way express mail. I applied in SF bay area and i notice the package is going to LA processing center (by looking at the pre-printed label). Since you are in OC, if your package also goes to the same processing center, then I guess there won't be much different - our applications may arrive the same day...

interesting, i thought the LA Region would be sent to some other places to process. Previously LA region passport applications were sent to New Orleans.

Oh well, will see.. I will call the 800# on Wed to check if they have received my application yet thou.
