passport lost during stamp

what should do when lost passport after stamp but before physical card received. Replace a new passport is ok, but what about restamp?

I dont think that should be a problem. Do you have a copy of your approval? Just go to immigration office and get stamped again.

I made a 485 copy. But I noticed that somebody had a copy from INS which sent to his attorney? Anyone has this experience?
