My indian passport expired abt 10 months ago. To my understanding, Indian embassy requires that an applicant for renewal or a new passport be in status (have valid Visa doc.). I though have been out of status for more than 180 days(even tho i entered US legally on student F1 visa). I was wondering if i can apply for new passport from indian embassy after i file my I130 and I485? Also will the INS have objections since my passport is not current at the time of filling these forms? Anyone with any info, please advise!!
