Passport Expiry

Hello Alren, Raju and CP Gurus,

My passport expires in Sept 2005 and I am hoping to get my CP interview in Dec 04 / Jan 05. Do I need to get my passport renewed? Any idea what the time limit is from Consular interview to Passport renewal?

I believe it is 6 months.. check with the US consulate website.

Indian Embassy in US will renew your passport only 6 months before expiry i.e. in your case you can apply for renewal only in Mar 05. It didn't take more than 7-10 days for us to get a new passport after expiry so I would not be very concerned about this situation.

If you are expecting your interview in Dec/Jan. Hang tight, do not take any further steps.

They will look for 8 months of validity at the time of interview. So, you should
be fine.
