Hi Folks,

I am going to apply for B1 visa at Chennai consulate and my passport will be expiring in August end 2004. Is it any kind of risk to my chances of obtaining a B1 Visa?

What kind of Validity period would be good on the passport ?

Also I had been in US from 1997 ~ 2002 (about 5 yrs) . Does that have any kind of impact on obtaining a fresh B1 visa?

My employer had also filed for my green card and I was laid off after I filed the I-485 form. Currently the Online system that my I-485 application is still being processed though I have been out of Us since Nov 2002. My friend received my EAD and AP parole but they will expire in Jan 2003. does this also affect my B1 Visa chances??

Appreciate any Help On the above issues!!

Thanks tons

6 months validity required on passports
Were you on B visa from 1997 to 2002? Odd.
Do you mean Jan 2004? Yes , in one of the forms you will answer that an immigrant visa was filed! your B visa might be refused.

thanks for the Quik Response Jaxen. What if I dont mention that I had filed for immigration visa? Is it that necessary and detectable?

I was on a F1 from 1997 ~ 1998 and then on a H1-B visa. Never on a B-Visa.

Thanks!!

One should have atleast six months of validity on the passport. On your adjustment appln, does your employer still have the job offer for you upon approval of your 485? Chennai consulate may question you on all this? On Which company's Invitiation are you visiting the US and what is the purpose? One will require better understanding to advise you.

thanks for your interest Manu. the company that laid me off is unfortunately ready make n offer again.

A New company from india is willing to sponsor my B1 visa this time. and the assignment could be for 2-3 months only.

I wonder if all sections of the DS156/157 is scrutinized that minutely?

Would appreciate anyone willing ness to share their B1 interview experience at any US consulate in India.

Ciao !!
